GPS mapper Navteq said Wednesday that it has extended its agreement with Trimble Navigation Ltd., a maker of GPS devices for construction, agriculture and other industries.
Under the multiyear agreement, Trimble will have access to all of Chicago-based Navteq's maps for 77 countries. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Trimble also will have the right to use Navteq's entry maps, which provides basic coverage for the rest of the world.
Trimble said it will continue to license Navteq's transport and traffic coverage that spans 20 countries.
The transport feature includes truck navigation, routing and dispatch optimization, which is helpful to companies in the transportation industry. Navteq Traffic provides detailed traffic information, including road construction and accidents.
Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Shares of Trimble fell 12 cents to close at $18.50 on Wednesday.
