Digmaster Pro 3D Used in Germany's Jade-Weser Port

Due to the current very good experiences with Digmaster Pro 2D and a long term usage of a machine within new construction of Jade-Weser Port, German excavator rental company von Barnekow has equipped its first machine with a DigmasterPro 3D system by German dealer Illig Lasersysteme.

With Jade-Weser Port, German´s only deep water harbour for future big containerships, the Federal states of Lower Saxony and Bremen have started one of the biggest North German infrastructure projects during the last 50 years. Capital expenditure for this will be about 950 Million Euro. The port should be operating by October 2011 and up from then, the first super modern ship giants will land in Wilhelmshaven on the projected 1725 metres long quay. Four Containerships will then be processed with up to 17 portainers at the same time.

Within this project, company BvB is operating the Digmaster Pro 3D system on behalf of big German construction company Johann Bunte in Papenburg. The actual construction progress requires laying sand mats under water, which have to feature an overlapping within centimetre accuracy. Hardly ever to realize with normal utilities, here Digmaster Pro 3D GPS technology of equipped machine has its effects.

The target terrain model with profile of sand mats, which is generated by the supporting surveying office is loaded directly inside the Digmaster Pro PC. Sensors for boom, dipper and bucket are checking articulation of machine, JAVAD RTK GPS the position and heading of machine.

This would not be enough to lay the mats with required overlapping accuracy. An according created two dimensional 2D overlay model with exact display of middle axis of sand mats is placed “on top” of target DTM. As a result the operator is getting an exact laying direction.
