Caterpillar Refines Operator Experience of D6N

August 1, 2009
Caterpillar D6N EH crawler dozerCat refined the operating experience of its 150-horsepower D6N crawler dozer by making electro-hydraulic controls standard equipment and upgrading the instrument panel, climate controls and air-ride seating. Signals between the tiller bar, blade and ripper control levers and the corresponding hydraulic systems are now communicated through a simple wiring harness that replaces the complex network of pilot-hydraulic lines and fittings. Electronic controls significantly reduce the cost to add AccuGrade automatic grade controls. Cat says operators will notice fast steering response, precise implement control and low-effort levers, response characteristics they can adjust using the in-cab monitor. The D6N EH now comes with an electrical fuel-priming pump with integral fuel/water separator, and the fuel and air-intake filter are electronically monitored.
